Priorities Funny how a ten-dollar bill seems so big at church and so small at the market. Funny how big an hour of service looks and how small sixty minutes are when spent golfing, fishing or playing rook. Funny how long two hours at church feels...but how short they are when watching a movie. Funny how we get thrilled when a football game goes into overtime, but we complain when a sermon is longer. Funny how laborious it is to read a chapter of the Bible, but we can read a two or three hundred page novel. Funny how we believe what the newspaper says, but question the Bible. Funny how people scramble to get a front seat at any game and scramble to get a back seat at church. Funny how we can not fit a gospel meeting in our schedule, but can schedule other events at a moment?s notice. Funny how difficult it is to learn the gospel well enough to tell others, and yet so simple to understand gossip. Funny how we can?t think of anything to say when we pray, but have no difficulty talking to friends. Funny how we are quick to take directions from strangers, but hesitate to take the direction from God?s word. Funny how people are consumed about what others think of them, rather than what God thinks. Funny how so many church goers sing "Standing on the Promises"...and all they do is sit on the premises. Funny how people think that they can get more accomplished in a lifetime without God, than in an hour with Him. ? Author unknown (Submitted by Robert Martin, Shelbyville TN) |
