From the Editor Praise the Lord for His many blessings. I am personally thankful to Him for His Word. It seems as though the world is bleaker every day. We are bombarded with images on the TV news programs and in the newspapers of moral decay, hatred and war. We are constantly being reminded of the state of unrighteousness that the nations of the world, especially the United States, find themselves in. Normally, it would be enough to depress even the most ardent optimist, but we have God?s word. Not only does it tell us that, in the last days, conditions would be as they are now, but it is a source of great hope and comfort to those who believe. We have set our hearts to know the Scriptures. In this time when it seems as though all hope is lost, the Bible tells us of hope in Christ Jesus. When the future is dark and gloomy, the Bible shows a lighted path. Our Bible studies, which we have Sunday mornings, Monday evenings, and throughout the week, provide a wonderful opportunity to delve into His Word and learn more of our Lord and Savior, and our God. Even as a man?s heart is revealed through his words (Luke 6:45), so also has God shown us His heart through His holy Word. Paul said to "give attendance to reading." He goes on to recommend paying attention to doctrine. We must read the Bible and seek to be able to rightly divide the word of truth. Understanding the Scripture is not achieved by study alone (Job 11:7), but without a desire to pursue the truth of God?s word and an earnest effort to attain it, one will never find the Scripture?s true meaning. The Bible says, "Whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope." (Rom. 15:4) The Word of God, contained in the Old and New Testaments, is the medium through which our heavenly Father has relayed to us His promises of love, joy, peace, patience, goodness and faith. I implore you, my friends, to fall in love with God?s Word. These are the last days. Every day, I am encouraged through the Scriptures. I see that the time of Christ?s return is swiftly approaching, and that now, maybe more than ever before, there is an urgency for the believers to draw nigh unto God, so that, when perilous times come, we will be able to withstand. Read your Bibles every day. Pray. Seek God?s will in your life. Talk to others about the Lord. Christ is your only hope. I want to remind everyone of the upcoming Feast of Pentecost, which we will be celebrating May 20-23. All are invited, and anyone wishing to attend can get more information about directions, accommodations, etc., by calling (413) 532-9636. God bless you all. David M. McNabb Editor & Bible Guy |
