ABOUT THE PEOPLE OF TRUTH
In the Spring of 1972, we withdrew from a relatively small organization based in Cleveland, Tennessee, called The Church of God. However, it was not until October, 1981 that we officially organized under the name "The People of Truth."
I have been asked the question, "The People of Truth? aren’t all Christians people of truth?" The answer, of course, is "Yes," in that all of them that believe, and are justified by faith in Jesus Christ have embraced Him who is "The way, the TRUTH, and the life" (Acts 8:26-39). However, the Apostle Paul made that fact a little clearer when he said, "When ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements?" Being born again, a baby in Christ, we know our Father in heaven about as much a human babies know their fathers
If we really wish to know God, we will have to pay the price. We must "Buy the truth and sell it not." (Proverbs 23:23). We must "Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge. For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips. That thy trust may be in the Lord, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee. Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, that I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee" (Prov. 22:17-21).
And Jesus said, "The Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. -- Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify [prophesy] of me" (John 5:37-39). Jesus was pointing out to them that they had accepted the truth of the coming resurrection, and He wanted them to know that those same Holy Scriptures contained the prophetic truth that Jesus was the Messiah.
I know how discouraging it is when we read, and study and search the Holy Scriptures without being able to get much out of it. But I discovered that God has given us the means of understanding His word. It is called the "Key of Knowledge" (Luke 11:52). With the favor of God, we can learn how to use that key, and soon be rejoicing in the truth of those things which have been so elusive for so long.
God has always intended for His people to "Come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God," just before Jesus returns (Eph. 4:9-16). However, He wrote about it in such a way as to keep it hidden, until it was time for it to be revealed. But the time has now come for the Church to "Know the manifold wisdom of God" (Eph. 3:10). In order for that to be accomplished, God must raise up a devout group of ministers with the gifts of the ministry (Eph. 4:10-16). We believe He has begun to do just that.
Jeremiah prophesied of those gifted ministers, saying, "I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding" (Jer. 3:14-15). O what a treat that will be to those who now hunger and thirst after righteousness.
We are now in the season of which Jesus said, "The harvest is the end of the world" (Matt. 13:27-30, 36-43). It is not merely a momentous event. It is a forty-nine year period in which God shall "Gather out of His kingdom all things that offend," and also to gather His faithful together in the unity of the faith. He has been working toward that since the spring of 1962. We are now faced with the approaching "day of the Lord’s wrath" coming upon God’s people, and the imminent coming of the Bridegroom. The revelation of those things is the "Meat in due season" of Matthew 24:45-47, and it is today’s "Present truth" of (2 Peter 1:12). There must, therefore, even now, be a group of ministers who understand the things which pertain to this season.
The People of Truth have been avidly, and with diligence, searching the Holy Scriptures concerning these things since our fledgling days in the spring of 1972. The Lord had already showed me, in April, 1962, that we were entering into the harvest of Christianity, the end of the world, and that it was beginning with the "Gathering of the tares" (Matt. 13:40). Pope John XXIII called it the Ecumenical movement.
"The People of Truth" has established this website to give you an opportunity to make yourselves aware of the truth of God’s Word concerning His work "from the beginning to the end" (Eccl. 3:11). It is our earnest desire that you will be edified and strengthened by the knowledge of God as you avail yourselves of the truth of God which is presented here.
"And when Moses took the second pair of stone tablets up to God on the mountain, the Lord descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth" (Exodus 34:5-6).
Praise Him all ye saints!
