The Lord sent Moses to deliver His people, the Israelites, out of Egypt.? However, the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh so that, even after a series of devastating plagues, he refused to release God?s people.? Jehovah had one last plague planned for Egypt.
He told Moses to make that current month ?the beginning of months.?? On the fourteenth day, they were to kill the Passover lamb and ?take of the blood and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper doorpost? of their houses.? He said, ?For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord.? And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.?
God had called the people of Israel to deliverance, but they were required to do one thing: put the lamb?s blood on the doorposts and mantle of their house.
Likewise, mankind is enslaved to sin.? Paul declared, ?For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.?? He went on to express the terrible penalty for our sinful condition, ?The wages of sin is death.?? We were guilty, and were doomed to share in the wrath of God.? But our great and merciful God provided an out.? A Lamb was slain for us, ?for God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.?? (1 Thess. 5:9)
Notwithstanding, we are required to take His blood and apply it to the ?doorposts and mantle? of our hearts.? Salvation is a gift of God, but to share in this gift you must receive it.? Receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior today, and you will find your deliverance.? ?If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.?
It is in remembrance of Jesus? great sacrifice at Calvary that we will gather this March 31st for the Lord?s Supper.? We keep this great feast of the Lord as He commanded, ?Till He comes.?
Another great feast ordained by God is also swiftly approaching.? The Feast of Firstfruits, also called Pentecost, will be celebrated at The People of Truth May 16-19, 2002.? This is the 40th anniversary of the restoration of the observance of this feast by the late Bishop Grady Kent.? Make travel plans now to join us for this great revival!? We hope to see you here.
God bless you all!
