Today in Prophecy
An Alarm Against the High Towers
By C. Eldon McNabb

On September 11, 2001, the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City were destroyed by the zealous proponents of a religion which is fiercely opposed to the political and social freedoms which produced the United States of America, made it great, and even yet motivate this nation. That event will, no doubt, be remembered for as long as any still live who saw it.

That tragedy occurred a little over a month ago. The U.S. government immediately took advantage of the occasion, with great fervor, to impose new restrictions upon the citizens of this great country. War was declared on terrorism and the definition of terrorism was redefined to brand all as terrorists who do not jump on the unity bandwagon, especially those who are fundamentalists of any religion. They finished the formation of a domestic spy bureaucracy and an Office of Homeland Security to intrude into the private lives of anyone for almost anything.

Political correctness, which began to be imposed upon the country in the early nineteen-nineties has taken on new dimensions. When this crisis and all of its furor has passed, our citizenry will wake up to realize that their freedoms will now be dictated by world standards and a world court, and Christianity will be pressed to discard the one great mission which was given to it by its founder: That repentance and remission of sins should be preached in the name of Jesus Christ among all men.

Why has this all happened, and at this time? The end has come, and the Beast with seven heads and ten horns will soon begin to exercise the great power which the "Seven/Ten" wealthiest, non Communist, nations of the world have given it. Those "ten horns" are ordained of God to give their power to the United Nations until the time of the destruction of that scarlet clad woman in Revelation seventeen. We can now truly say with the Apostle Peter, "The time is come that judgment must begin at the House of God, and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?" We will move swiftly now to the fulfillment of the words of Christ our king concerning Christianity: If they have not done the will of God, they shall be "beaten with many stripes and few," depending on how well they have known or not known the will of God.

September 11, 2001 was a great tragedy for New York City, and for all of America, but its significance is far greater than that which is obvious. God spoke by the Prophet Zephaniah concerning that event, to show that it was for a sign of the beginning of the judgment of God. The Elect of God must first be judged, after which God's judgement shall be executed upon all of the rest of Christianity. When God has judged His people, He will turn and pour out His wrath upon the rest of the world.

In the first chapter of Zephaniah's prophecy, God uses Judah and Jerusalem to represent His elect and various other countries to represent the rest of Christianity. In verses ten through sixteen, God speaks of the attack on the towers and shows us that it happened to alert us to the fact that the judgment of God is beginning, and will continue through the end of the "Great day of the Lord."

God said, "It shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord, that there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and an howling from the second, and a great crashing from the hills." Within the space of a few minutes, two jetliners were deliberately crashed into each of the twin towers, just a short distance from N. Y. City's fish market. A few minutes later the second hit was made on the Pentagon in Washington D.C. Some time later the fourth jetliner crashed in the hills of Pennsylvania. God went on to say, "Howl ye inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the merchant people are cut down." Then he said, "At that time I will search Jerusalem with candles." And how many millions of candles were lit for this occasion to further show that God will begin, very soon, to judge His Elect.

Sadly, many of God's ministers and His people will pass it off, and "Say in their hearts, The Lord will not do good neither will He do evil." But "The great day of The Lord is near. That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress." It is "A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers. These terms, fenced cities and high towers are used here to represent the great Christian sects. As a sure sign that this day is now upon us, the terrorists struck the "fenced cities": U. S. defense offices at the Pentagon, and the "high towers" of the World Trade Center.

God has given Christianity a great wake up call. The alarm has sounded, and in Zeph. 2:1-3, a special admonition is given to all of them who trust in God by Jesus Christ. He said, "Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired; Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the Lord come upon you, before the day of the Lord's anger come upon you. Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the Earth, which have wrought His judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord's anger." Of course, the implication of this statement is that it may be that we shall not be hidden, if we do not take this admonition of our Lord to heart.

The Lord further said in Amos 5:18, "Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord! To what end is it for you? The day of the lord is darkness, and not light. As if a man did flee from a lion and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him." If ever Christians needed to seek God, it is now.

One day this week a group of NATO planes flew "security flights" over this land as an official signal that our government has given our nation in subjection to the United Nations, and will continue to do so until that Beast has devoured Christianity from off the land. The Serpent will soon begin to cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the Elect of God, that he might cause them to be carried away with the flood. When the Serpent sees that he has been unsuccessful in his efforts to destroy God's Elect, he will go on a rampage against the rest of Christianity to destroy it from the Earth. If we are to escape the great wrath of our adversary the Devil, and flee the wrath of God which "hasteth greatly" we must begin to seek God as never before, and gather ourselves together in the unity of The Faith.

So let us pray, and so let us walk, and so let us live that we might be alive and remain unto the coming of our Lord and King, Jesus Christ.
