News Brief
A New Bible, or Just a New Twist?"

By C. Eldon McNabb

The publishers of the New International Bible have once again demonstrated for us that they do not believe that the Christian Holy Scriptures are indeed holy. They certainly do not believe that they are inspired of God. They have casually produced various "ways of saying it" for the last twenty-eight years or so. If they didn't like a verse at all, they simply dropped it from the text, as they did with Matt. 17:21. God forbid that we should have to fast and pray in order to be able to cast out some of the stronger types of demons.

Now they are releasing a new gender-neutral version, which is supposed to go on sale in April. I wonder how many passages of the Bible they had to twist in order to manage that. They have titled this new version Today's New International Version. It makes one wonder what the sequel will be like tomorrow.

These books are not provided to the public in order that we might more perfectly know what God said or what He meant. The contrary is true. They merely cast more doubt on the validity of the true Word of God. And the word of God is what the Bible originally was, because the original writers wrote down what God said - not what they thought He meant. (2 Pet. 1:19-21)

The Apostle Paul told young Timothy, "I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at His appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not enure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." It would appear that that time has come.
