The Daily Sacrifice

By C. Eldon McNabb

"Out of one of them came forth a little horn, ... And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground. ... I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed" (Daniel 8:9-14).

"And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate" (Daniel 9:27).

We are living in a time when it is natural for us to feel the need to take another long look at the book of Daniel, and to reconsider the specific prophetic times and events which he has delivered to us by the Holy Spirit of "God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is."

In Daniel chapter seven, we are given a "picture" of "ten horns," and another "little horn" which was different from the others. Then, in chapter eight, we are given an inset in that "picture;" telling us where that little horn comes from, and the timing and process of its manifestation. As great as the ten horns (the G-Ten of today's world political scene) are, it is that little horn which will do great harm to Christianity before this decade is over. Oh yes, the G-Ten will, unsuccessfully "make war with the lamb" (Rev. 17:12-14), but it is that "little horn" which "Shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time" (Daniel 7:25).

In Daniel 7, we are told of that period of "Time and times and the dividing of time;" and in Chapter 8, he told us of a 2300-day period. In Daniel 12:7 he mentioned the "times" again and in verse 11, and he told us of a period of 1290 days. When mentioning these days and times, in Revelation chapters 11 and 12, the Apostle John told us of another time period of 42 months; naming that period first.

I know that many ministers have a different view of these three periods of three and a half years, but consider what I say, and the Lord give you understanding. The Lord, by the Apostle John, has given to us the revelation of these three periods of three and a half years, and has simplified the understanding of them, by listing them in the order of their occurrence. Once again, God has used Israel for a sign, by allowing Jerusalem to be trodden under foot for 42 months (9-28-2000 to 3-28-2004), before the beginning of the last 7 year period of the Grace Age. On the other hand, Daniel 7:25 specifically places the "time, and times, and half a time," of Revelation 12:14, as the third of those three periods.

The last seven years: Since the end of March, 2004, we have been in the last seven years of this era. Accordingly, we are now halfway through the period which John referred to as "A thousand two hundred and threescore days." A lot of paper and ink has been devoted to the seven years in Daniel 9:27, but it is the 2300 days, in the passage I quoted at the beginning of this article, which is more easily comprehended in relationship to the last week of years in the Grace Age. That is especially true when considered in relationship to the peculiar breakdown of the last three-and-a-half years of that seven years in Daniel 7:25. These time periods are spoken of in different ways for specific reasons. The 2300 days marks the time of the "perfection" of the Church, but the end of "the seven-year period, less 6 months (or half a time), marks the end of the offer, in Revelation 22:6, "Whosoever will, let him come and drink of the water of life freely." From the time of the official declaration of the beginning of the Jubilee year - the 6000th year from the creation of Adam - the mediator will no longer be sitting at the right hand of God (Heb. 1:13).

Two thousand and three hundred days is obviously not seven years. In the sense of the Biblical use of the 360-day year, it is approximately 6.4 years. Or, in the 365-day year, it is 6.3 years. During these 2300 days, the truth shall be cast down to the ground, the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, the transgression (abomination) of desolation shall be set up, and great persecution shall arise against God's "Sanctuary and the host." It may be entirely valid to "interpret" those 2300 days as years, in some applications, but both Daniel, and John, in the book of "The Revelation of Jesus Christ," use days in the specific sense of literal days (Dan. 12:9-13 and Rev. chapters 11 & 12).

We are given a period of 2300 days, which is short of seven years by 8 to 9 months, to show us when the "bride" shall have made herself ready (Rev. 19:7). Once we have determined when that seven years begins, we will know precisely when the "church" shall have attained unto the mark of "without spot or wrinkle," (Matt. 25). (We should think of it as God giving us a deadline.) She will be ready more than six months before that last week of years is finished.

Just as everyone else, I wondered for many years what God's reason was for breaking up the last three and a half years into 1 year, 2 years, and half a year. Just in the last 5 years, or so, God opened my understanding to the truth of that matter. For one thing, the "half a time" is reserved by God to readjust the calendar to compensate for the discrepancy which was created when He told Moses to begin the year in the Spring. That readjustment must be made, to return us to the original counting of the years from Adam to Moses, in order to give the Lord Jesus His full 1000 years, and limit carnal man's rulership to the 6000 years which God has allotted him. That adjustment is prophesied of in the allegory which is the law of the year of Jubilee. Accordingly, "The trumpet of Jubilee" is to be blown on the tenth day of what is now the seventh month of God's calendar (Leviticus 25:9); not on the tenth day of the first month, which is Abib. The year of Jubilee follows the "times" of which I have written here, and is the 6000th year from the creation of Adam, and will begin about the first of October, 2010.

(If you have some question as to whether the law is prophecy, consider the words of Jesus in Luke 24:44. Jesus said unto them, "These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me." See also Matthew 11:13.)

The first half of that last seven year period is identified as "days," and the second half as "times." When the "daily sacrifice" is taken away by the "little horn," and we enter into the third, and final, three and a half years, Satan will begin to make war with the remnant of the seed of "the Woman;" fulfilling the prophecy in Revelation 11:7, and 12:17 (for they are both prophesies of the same event). The "Midnight cry," of Matthew 25, will begin, and, for about a year, Christians will have opportunity to hide themselves, and escape the wrath of God, which shall immediately follow. Then, for the next 2 years or so, all of Christianity will suffer great persecution by the fury of the "little Horn," and the wrath of the Almighty God, except those prudent ones who shall hide themselves with that man who, in Luke 17:26, is spiritually called Noah (Prov. 22:3).

Somewhere near the beginning of Autumn of 2007, two driving forces shall provoke a ban on the propagation of the gospel; especially in the West. 1) The transgressions of Christianity have come up before God, and because of those transgressions, God will cease to receive the daily devotions of Christianity in general. 2) He shall cause the Little Horn to bring severe sanctions against Christianity, and the light of the Gospel shall be extinguished.

Oh, God-ordained preaching will continue for part of the following three years. The first year of that period, the "midnight cry" will be the message, and it is not a message to the lost. Those "foolish," who insist on continuing "their ministry," God will punish. He described the foolish Christians in Prov. 1:20-31, "They would none of my counsel: They despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat the fruit of their own way, For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. But whoso hearkens unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil." In the second and third year of those "times," that "little horn" shall wear out the saints of the Most High, as the Bride is preparing for the wedding.

In the midst of the seventieth week of Daniel 9:27, three and a half years after the beginning of Jesus' ministry, God ceased to receive the sacrifices of the priests in the Temple. The law was abolished at the cross (Rom. 7:1-4), but from the beginning of the ministry of Jesus Christ, to the destruction of the Temple, the kingdom of God, on the Earth, was in transition, and from His death, it was "Ready to vanish away" (Heb. 8:13). The law being abolished at Calvary, the daily sacrifice was taken away, and that responsibility was given to the Church, the members of which "Continued daily in the Temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ." About three and a half years later, under Peter's administration, the Church had developed to the point that, "When they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. ... And with great power gave the Apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord: and great grace was upon them all." God filled that New Testament Temple with His holy presence, confirming the new "sacrifice and oblation."

The New Testament Temple is "The general assembly and Church of the Firstborn" (Heb. 12:22-24), and the believers are God's "Royal priesthood" (Exodus 19:6 & 1 Peter 2:9). Even now, God is making ready to do the same thing, to foolish and apostate Gentile Christianity, that He did to Israel in 70 A.D. (Rom. 2:5-11).

In the next four to five years, we will see a tremendously rapid succession of events which will transform the political scene and the religious scene, in America, as well as in the rest of the West, as anti-Christian sentiment continues to escalate. The G-Ten have increasingly given their power to the U.N., and the war with Islam rages which, coupled with the rapid rising of the religion of Atheism in the West, has placed Christianity in great jeopardy. Unfortunately for Christians, the bulk of modern Christian ministers have succumbed to the call of their congregations to "tickle" their ears. As it was prophesied that these "prophets" would do, they cry "peace, peace," when there is no peace.

Jeremiah wrote, "The Lord said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart. Therefore thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed. And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them, them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness upon them" (Jer. 14:14-16).

The time is very near in which the curse of 1 Thess. 5 shall surely come upon rebellious Christianity, and that of their own doing. However, the blessing, in chapter 4, will surely be obtained by those who have remained faithful to God, and "remain" with Noah in the "ark" (Gen. 7:22,23).

Today's Christians have ignored God's admonition in Jeremiah 10, where He said, "Learn not the way of the heathen for the customs of the people are vain: ... They are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock (idol) is a doctrine of vanities." That doctrine is rife in almost all of Christianity today. They say that we shall miss all of the persecution, and fly away to meet Jesus: totally unaware of the reproof in 1 Thess. 5. Chapter 5 is not a change of subject, but is a continuation of Paul's comments concerning the resurrection of the dead, in chapter 4, verses 13-18. We must always keep in mind the fact that Jeremiah said that our religious leaders have inherited lies, and pursue the truth until we have eliminated all of those errors from our doctrine (Jer. 16:19).

Our time schedule has been given to us, and "the scriptures can not be broken." We have been give 48 and a half years, from the spring of 1962, until the fall of 2010. Then shall the harvest be ended: the harvest of the tares and the harvest of the wheat, and during the "year of Jubilee" which follows, the marriage of the Lamb shall take place. We must begin to get ready!

It is high time that we receive Paul's admonition in 1 Thess. 5:1-10, where he said, "Of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others (The ten virgins); but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him."

It is time that we grasp the urgency of the situation and begin to receive the light of meat in due season, ... redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
