EU's godless constitution suffers serious blow

The proposed constitution of the European Union, which received much press for its deliberate omission of all things relating to God, was dealt a serious blow by French and Dutch voters.

The constitution, which would take effect only upon ratification by all 25 member nations, was left in limbo upon its rejection in France and the Netherlands. Ten nations had already ratified the charted prior to its defeat in those two nations.

Denmark, Portugal and Great Britain have since postponed their planned referenda on the constitution.

British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw gave what is likely the best analysis of the European constitution's record so far, and that of the continent itself, "Europe is divided."
