Dear friends, brothers, and sisters, we are drawing close to the end of the 2005 calendar year, and it seems as though it was but a few days ago that we were looking at its beginning. With the passing of another year, one thing is certain: the return of our Lord is that much closer than it was twelve months ago!

As we begin 2006, Bro. Eldon McNabb and I will be travelling to Trichur, India to visit our dear brother, Pastor Philip Thomas, and the saints with him there. In a recent telephone conversation with Bro. Thomas, we discussed how excited we both were in anticipation of our upcoming visit. Bro. Thomas then mentioned that, as wonderful as the thought of getting to see brethren here on earth always is, just remember how much greater it will be on that day, when our Lord will appear! Amen!

The signs are all around us. The moment in time that all creation has longed for is nigh at hand. It is high time that the children of God prepare themselves for the day of the Lord. The Scriptures declare plainly that Jesus is coming back for a glorious Church, without spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing: a Bride who has made herself ready.

According to the Word of God, these last days are full of the signs of the end: wars, hurricanes, earthquakes, terror, and many others. To deny that the days of our visitation are upon us is folly. All of these signs are not only to shake the world at its very foundation, but they are for us believers, to shake us and awaken us to the fact that we must prepare ourselves for the day of the Lord.

As joyful as our reunion with Christ will be, the days leading up to His return will grow darker and darker. Do you desire the day of the Lord? The Bible has some words especially for you.

God, by the prophet Amos, said, "Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord! to what end is it for you? the day of the Lord is darkness, and not light. As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him. Shall not the day of the Lord be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?" (Acts 5:18-20).

Nevertheless, God will cause a nation of believers to rise up, and shine forth in the midst of that impending darkness. In those days, we will declare with Paul, "We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed." Even so, let us make ourselves ready to stand for the truth of God, in the face of any adversity, that we may show forth the praises of Him who has called us out of darkness into His marvellous light!
